What each disposition does

Twenty-three buttons on every list, plus one extra on Fire lists. Four things that can happen. This page is only about what happens to the prospect after you click — not about what the button is called.

These do more than end the list. Use them only when you are sure.

Button What it really does
Do Not Call / Remove Blocks the number on every list, for every client, forever. Only use it when they actually asked.
Bad # Also blocks the number everywhere, forever. A busy tone can sound like a dead line — be certain.
Lease/Rent/Property Mgr Fire lists only. Also blocks the number everywhere, forever — including for other clients.

Busy Signal used to be on this list. It is not any more — see Declined is not busy below.

Comes back

You put a time in the Call Back box, so they return at that time.

Finished here

Off this list. Still fine to call on any other list they are on.

Dropped

Off this list immediately, before you even get a choice.

Blocked forever

The number is dead to us. Every list, every client. Cannot be undone here.

The colour is what you see on screen, so you can find the button. It does not tell you what happens — the right-hand column does.

Button Colour Use it when What happens after you save
Meeting Booked Green They agreed to a meeting. Finished here
Rescheduled Meeting Green A meeting you already had moved to a new time. Finished here
Call Back Later Blue They told you when to ring back. Comes back The only button that makes you pick a time.
Target Not Available Blue You got through, but your person is out. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
No Answer Blue It rang out. Nobody picked up. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
Left Voicemail Amber You left a message on their voicemail. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
Transferred to VM Amber A phone tree or receptionist dumped you into voicemail. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
Busy Signal Amber A real engaged tone — the strip says BUSY. Dropped One genuine busy is enough. Off this list straight away.
Declined / Carrier Blocked Amber The strip says DECLINED — CARRIER BLOCKED. It never rang. Comes back Parked 30–60 minutes, then dialed again. Does not count against them.
Other Amber Nothing else fits. Write a note — it is the only record. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
Need Research Amber The details are wrong or missing and you cannot work it. Finished here
Call Corp / HQ Amber This branch decides nothing — head office does. Finished here
GK Said: Send Email Purple The gatekeeper told you to email instead. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
Prospect Said: Send Email Purple The decision-maker themselves asked for an email. Comes back Only if you set a time. Blank = finished here.
Only reachable via email Purple There is no usable phone line for this contact. Finished here
Can’t Get Past GK Red The gatekeeper blocked you and gave you nothing. Finished here
Quick Hang Up Red They hung up before you got your pitch out. Comes back Only if you set a time — and usually you should not.
Prospect Hung Up Red They heard the pitch, then hung up on you. Finished here
Wrong Contact — See Notes Red Wrong person, and nobody would tell you the right one. Finished here
Not Interested Red A clear no from the right person. Finished here Does not block the number. A no is not a DNC.
Disqualified Red They never fit — wrong industry, already a client, too small. Finished here Write why in the notes.
Do Not Call / Remove Red They asked to be taken off. Only when they asked. Blocked forever
Bad # Red The number is dead — disconnected, or a fax. Blocked forever
Lease/Rent/Property Mgr Red Fire lists only. The building is leased or agent-run. Blocked forever

Twilio reports two completely different things as “busy”, and until recently Smarter Dialer treated them as one. The strip now tells you which you got, and it matters:

Strip says What actually happened Button
BUSY Their line really is engaged. Someone is on the phone. Busy Signal
DECLINED — CARRIER BLOCKED The call was refused before it rang. Usually the mobile network rejecting our caller ID as suspected spam. Declined / Carrier Blocked

A decline says nothing about the prospect. Their phone never rang, they never saw a missed call, and the number is fine — it is our outgoing number the network did not like. That is why the two buttons behave differently: one busy tone finishes them on this list, a decline parks them for half an hour and tries again.

Red does not mean “removes them.” Nine buttons are red and they do three completely different things. Three block the number forever. Five just finish the list, same as a green one. One — Quick Hang Up — can even bring the prospect back. Ignore the colour and read the last column.

Finishing a list does not finish the person. Most companies sit on more than one list. Closing them here does nothing to the copy of them on another list, so they can turn up again next week on someone else’s screen. Only the three “blocked forever” buttons reach across every list.

A callback time is a promise, not a reminder. Eleven buttons let you set one. It means “I have agreed to ring this person then” — not “try again sometime”. Putting a time on a voicemail or a hang-up is why the same companies keep reappearing on your screen.
